As Motor-Climate UK is a Dedicated Automotive Air Conditioning Specialist, we have evaluated many of the Qualifications specified under the F-Gas Requirements and we have chosen to work with the IMI Awards Scheme & their Assessments / Training division ATA (Automotive Technician Accreditation) We believe The IMI Awards VRQ/QCF/ATA Assessment training schemes are widely recognized as the Automotive Sector Benchmark for Vehicle Technicians training and assessments. The purpose and aim of these various qualifications is to provide experienced Vehicle / MAC Technicians with a qualification (approved by DEFRA), which meets the EU legislation (EC842-2006) for F Gas handling. This legislation comes into force on 4th July 2010. F-GAS REFRIGERANT HANDLING (MAC) AUTOMOTIVE VEHICLE TECHNICIANSThe European Commission has now stipulated the minimum training and certification required for (MAC) Refrigerant Handling. This means that some existing qualifications will be invalid and listed as "No longer be fit for purpose under the F-Gas Regulation". All Vehicle Technicians now need to prepare to update their qualifications, so they meet the min qualifications. Set out in the EU legislation (EC) No 842/2006 including Commission Regulations (EC) No 307/2008. TRAINING AND ASSESSMENTAs a dedicated Vehicle Air Conditioning specialist Motorclimate / Compressortech has chosen to provide the necessary training and qualifications required to meet the min F-Gas legislation in association with IMI Awards and ATA assessments scheme. HOW DO I BOOK AN ASSESSMENT?Contact us now to arrange your ATA Refrigerant Handling assessment and gain F-Gas accreditation. ATA Technician assessment costs are from £185 + vat per Technician. The IMI Awards / ATA Assessments can be carried out at your premises, using your equipment and facilities in a controlled environment at a mutually convenient time. The assessment time is approx 3 hrs per Technician*. This includes a workshop practical assessment and an underpinning knowledge theory test. This provides you with minimal lost workshop production time, no travel or overnight accommodation expenses. * The assessments time is based on a Technician with a min 3-months Air conditioning service experience. |

ATA Air Conditioning - Refrigerant Handler (IMIA/AC/1)Qual Ref: IMIA/AC08/1Note: All Air Conditioning ATA levels meet the minimum requirements set out in EC Regulation (EC) No. 307/2008. How do you become accredited?To become an ATA Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handler, you must pass two practical assessments and an on-line knowledge test at an IMI Awards assessment centre approved to offer this ATA route/level. ATA Refrigerant Handler assessments will usually last half a day. Before you can take an assessment you must be able to prove your experience of working as an Air Conditioning Refrigerant Handler for at least three months, or hold a relevant nationally recognised qualification and have a minimum level of post qualification industry experience in an appropriate role for 3 months. On the assessment day you must sign the ATA Code of Conduct. You will also have your photograph taken in readiness for the ID card issued to successful candidates. You must successfully complete all the assessments within a 12 month period from the first assessment date. You are allowed to re-take up to two assessments. If you are referred on more than two, you will have to take them all again. Once you have achieved your accreditation, your details will be entered on the ATA register of accredited technicians. To ensure that you have kept up-to-date with new technologies, you will have to be re-assessed every 5 years to maintain your accreditation. Assessment DetailsTwo practical assessments covering:
